R.I.P - Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson

Ed McMahon - 1923 – 2009 - was best known for his days as a game show host and of course he came into our homes every year as people anxiously waiting to see if they won the big prize from Publisher's Clearing House. McMahon had a string of medical problems but in the end died of pneumonia.

Farrah Fawcett - 1947 - 2009 - was best known for her acting days as Jill Monroe in Charlie's
Angel. She recently put together a documentary that toook you through her day cancer victim. Farrah passed away after a 3 year battle with Cancer.

Michael Jackson -1958-2009 - a.k.a "The King of Pop" is best known for entertain the world with his unique style of voice, dress, song, and choreography. Michael's cause of death is not yet revealed.

All 3 of these multi-talented individuals were world-wide icons in their own right. I don't know about you but these icons especially Michael Jackson have passed several generations in my house (my grandmother, my mother, my son and myself). So sad to see them go. May God keep them now and bless their family and friends giving them the strength to understand that there is reason that he took them from us so early. This must be a part of the grand design.

Love your family; show them; and tell them because no one is promised tomorrow. Get the courage to rebuild those broken relationships because this may very well be your last opportunity.

Be well and stay blessed!

Parental Defense

Why are parents so defensive?

I notice more and more that parents will come to you with a problem and when your response isn't in their favor they become very defensive. The actions of our children are often a reaction from us as parents. That is the reality of the situation. Deal with it!

Parents don't like to hear or admit they are wrong or they are at fault for their kids wrong-doings. I don't understand why. Being wrong or at fault doesn't make you a bad parent. We are all human and we all make mistakes. Acknowledging and learning from those mistakes is actually what makes us good parents. Not admitting and taking responsibility for your wrong-doings is what makes you a bad parent.

Getting defensive is a natural reaction. It is however, a very ignorant reaction. The defensive road will not help your child. It may in fact make matters worse. Then you will only have more negative responsibility to own up to and a bigger mess to clean up.

Just a little food for thought....
